Instead of asking for country as input from user and having to select from dropdown, let's just get the country through ISP(or some API) and the country code, and just ask the number and validate with OTP.
Thanks for that great idea! The app in production has already addressed this concern of yours, in a slightly different way. At present, the Country selector is still there, in case a user needs to override the country for some reason (has a number from one country, but lives in another), however, the country is pre-selected with the country of the user's app store download (OS setting on phone). This allows to keep the flexibility, without forcing the user to have to select their country from a blank pulldown. If you faced a blank pulldown when creating your user, that is a bug, and should be reported as one in residentbugs.ideas.aha.io
We'll set this Idea to 'Won't implement', not because it's a bad idea, but because we believe the app has already addressed the improvement you recommend.
Feel free to comment back if you want to provide any other feedback.
